Les Gets / Ski area
The Portes du Soleil is the largest, internationally linked
ski area in the world! Featuring 13 resorts in two countries
and more than 650km of well-groomed piste. The lift systems are
practical and convenient, the queues minimal and the slopes uncrowded.
From the centre of Les Gets the lifts will quickly transport
you into the heart of the region where you can have a coffee
in Morzine, (France) lunch in Champery (Switzerland) and stop
for a final refreshment at Rosettas, (Les Gets) before the final
runs back to the resort. It's worth mentioning that on a seven-day
holiday it is possible to ski in a different region every day!
The
region abounds with delightful, traditional mountain restaurants
serving great value, local specialities in front of roaring
log fires. We also strongly urge you to ski to the stunning goat
village at Ardent and sample the delights of the Cremaillere,
a world famous restaurant that The Times quoted as being the
best restaurant in the European Alps.
For advanced skiers, Les
Gets offers exciting off-piste possibilities in the Chamoissiere
and Nyon areas as well as a number of challenging
black runs including the Yeti mogul field. For the ultimate
experience the famous Avoriaz Wall is hair-raising at the best
of times
and in certain conditions is considered one of the most challenging
runs in Europe!. The Couloirs of Prodains and Champery are
stunning and not to be missed. Our favourite Les Gets run is
the Chamossiere
black under the chair lift where new powder is often waist
deep.
Intermediate skiers can cruise the many tree-lined slopes
on Mont Chery, the Chavannes and the Les Gets bowl. Venturing
a
little further to Morzine and Avoriaz, there are a huge variety
of red and blue motorway runs linking the different ski areas.
Beginners
are equally well catered for, the slopes of Les Gets and Morzine
offer beautifully groomed tree lined runs ideal for
all levels of skier. On the Les Gets nursery slope confidence
can be gained before progression to the gentle green and blue
runs higher up the mountain.Learning in Les Gets is both challenging
and great fun.
Snowboarders can enjoy the challenging snowboard
park in Les Gets complete with banks, rollers and jumps! Throughout
the area
there are several serious off-piste opportunities, particularly
at Chamossiere and through the trees around La Ranfolly, that
will give even the most experienced boarder an adrenaline rush!
Beyond Les Gets is Avoriaz the snowboarding capital of Europe.
It boasts a huge board park and hosts the annual world cup
half-pipe competition.
