Les Gets
Les Gets is the gateway to the heart of the Portes
du Soleil
ski region, with stunning examples of traditional architecture
and a genuine sense of local community. It combines charm and
beauty with a wide and varied ski domain that is both convenient
and well organised.

Les Gets is situated at 1172m and the slopes
rise to above 2000m in the ski areas of Nyon and Chamoissiere.
Its geographical position
in the mountain pass gives it a snow record which compares
favourably with higher ski resorts. The village lies between
the two mountains
of Mont Chery and Les Chavannes, and it is possible to ski
down to the village on both sides of the valley throughout most
of
the winter season. This period has been prolonged due to a
huge investment in a system of snow cannons and of course the
hard
work of Les Gets's piste maintenance team.

Long after the days's skiing is over the many shops in Les
Gets are well worth a visit, and the prices are surprisingly
reasonable! Every Thursday morning there is a traditional market
where the local farmers and artisans sell their products. Many
an ardent skier will miss a session on the slopes to take the
opportunity to browse the stalls where you will find a wide
variety of unusual cheeses and wines as well as many beautiful
examples of local crafts.
In the evening enjoy a warming glass of vin chaud in one of
the bars around the floodlit outdoor ice rink in the centre of
the village which stays open until 10pm or extend your days skiing
on the floodlit Boule de Gomme ski run until 7pm.
Surrounding the village square there are a number of bars and
restaurants, where the atmosphere is lively yet intimate. For
those inclined to dance the night away there is the Igloo night
club and several other late night venues.
Les Gets has something for everyone! Les Gets also has a health
and beauty complex and a two lane bowling alley.
